Keynes Society Japan (KSJ) - Motto and Principles [English Blog for KSJ]
Keynes Society Japan (KSJ)― With Keynes Spirits ―
I. Basic Principles
1 To pursue the truth through discussion, in accordance with “Keynes Spirits”, in order to contribute to understanding, analyzing and developing the contemporary economic society.
2 To aim at promoting researches from a wide range of fields such as economic theory, economic policy, social philosophy, history, culture. Therefore, participation of economists, historians, cultural interpreters, philosophers, art critics, journalists is welcome.
3 To provide a place for interdisciplinary and comprehensive points of view by means of give-and-take from conterminous areas.
4 To pay attention to the present, the future and the past.
5 To be active on the international dimension.
2. Comments Added
As to 1: “Keynes Spirits” might be different among individuals, as “freedom” or “justice” might be. Participation in the KSJ of individuals with his/her Keynes Spirits is welcome.
As to 2: The KSJ expects to comprehend wide areas of knowledge. It is Keynes himself who explored a very wide areas.
As to 3: The KSJ should naturally possess academic feature, and yet should not stay only there. It hopes to, as needs arise, hold, for example, a joint conference on the Bloomsbury Group, philosophy, art criticism, politics with experts concerned, and to collaborate with media and journalism. It is Keynes himself who participated actively in these fields.
As to 4: The KSJ is sure that it is indispensable for the purpose of understanding the economy and society to pay attention to both the present and the past. The stance to grasp the present while paying attention to the past and to grapple with the future should be observed. It is Keynes himself who took that stance.
As to 5: The KSJ is sure that activities to get knowledge and information through human exchange on a global scale are took for granted. It is Keynes himself who worked on such a scale. In spite of Keynes’ overwhelming influences in economics and social philosophy, there exist, surprisingly enough, no Keynes Society in the world (except for the Keynes Society German). One of the main reasons for it lies in the fact that there has continued to be confrontation between various Keynes or Keynesian Sects over a long period. The basic principles stated above are claimed with the hope of conquering these situations and creating intellectual and physical ground full of wide-ranging Keynes Spirits.
3. Activities So Far

Foundation of the Keynes Society Japan (KSJ) [English Blog for KSJ]
We are very happy to announce that Keynes Society Japan (KSJ) was finally founded in December 2011 after two years' preparation procedure. In our understanding this is the second
Keynes society followed by the German Keynes Society.
The slogun for KSJ is "the Keynes Spirits", which means that all the persons, who have the Keynes Sprits are welcome to enter this society. We do not define the Keynes Spirits, the definition is completely left to each person.
KSJ covers very wide areas, mirroing Keynes's wide activities during his life --- economist, poilicy adviser, philosopher, social philosopher, international planner and so forth.
(to be continued)
